Hon. Ikpea Celebrates Igbinedion at 89

On Monday, September 11th, Hon. Joseph Ikpea, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a leading gubernatorial aspirant in Edo State, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, on his 89th birthday.

Hon. Ikpea commended the elder statesman and Benin high Chief for his remarkable contributions to the social and economic development of the country, manifesting as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural ambassador.

The gubernatorial aspirant acknowledged Igbinedion’s pioneering achievements, notably being the first Nigerian to venture into the airline business with the establishment of Okada Airlines. He also celebrated Chief Igbinedion for founding the first private university in Nigeria, Igbinedion University, located in Okada.

“Chief Igbinedion’s 89th birthday is a momentous occasion to celebrate an extraordinary Nigerian who, through unwavering determination and indomitable spirit, paved the way for numerous compatriots in the realms of business and philanthropy,” Hon. Ikpea stated.

“He demonstrated the feasibility and profitability of private airline operations in Nigeria at a time when many believed it to be impossible. By naming his airline ‘Okada,’ he propelled his hometown, Okada, from obscurity to global recognition.”

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Chief Igbinedion has stood as a cultural ambassador and icon of the Benin Kingdom, passionately promoting its rich heritage and traditions worldwide.
