Science, Technology and Innovations Desk-officers advised on technology driven solutions in boosting State’s economy
The Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Dr. Bartholomew I.C. Brai, has tasked Science and Technology Innovations (STI) Desk Officers across the eighteen Local Governments in the State to come up with indigenous production needs in their localities for technologically driven solutions that will bring about an economic revolution.
Dr. Bria made this charge while giving his welcome address at the Science and Technology innovation stakeholders engagement in Benin City.
The Commissioner reaffirmed that the Governor Obaseki-led administration is driving Edo State with technology hence Desk Officers across the eighteen Local Government Areas must search for innovations that will meet the new trends. He added that the meeting was to chart a course as regards science and technology innovations as they affect their Local Government Areas, while urging them to pay attention to research and development done by tertiary institutions in their various LGAs.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Yuwa Naps explained that the mandate of the Ministry is to coordinate research and development (R and D), supervise the teaching of science and technology in schools and promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Speaking on behalf of the STI Desk Officers, Mr. Aghedo Emmanuel representing Egor Local Government Area appreciated the Ministry for the stakeholders engagement, describing it as timely and much needed. He added that skills, inventions, and proper documentation are vital in the execution of their duties in their various LGAs.
